Voice Your Concern Over LAist Promoting Street Racing
On August 10th, LAist is hosting a screening of “The Fast and The Furious,” the first film in a franchise that sparked an unprecedented rise in illegal street racing and street takeovers.
By scientific study, each release of these films results in an increase in dangerous driving. Evidence has shown that youth who grew up watching these films are those who are now involved in reckless speeding, street racing, and street takeovers.
Speeding is the single largest factor for traffic collisions and fatalities across Los Angeles and the entire US.
Help us tell LAist that this screening event is not what Southern California needs or wants. Instead, they should be reporting on the destruction — property damage, human lives lost, and physical/mental health issues — caused by street racing and street takeovers.

City of Glendale 2024 Bicycle Master Plan, Action Alert!
This is it! The updated Bicycle Master Plan is heading to the Glendale City Council this Tuesday at 6pm and we need your support. We all agree that our streets can be made safer. The upcoming Bicycle Plan - which includes over 90 miles of new bicycle infrastructure - is one way to do just that for bicyclists, pedestrians, and drivers. Your attendance at this meeting is critical.
As you may have seen on social media, there has been pushback against recent bicycle improvements by a few small, but vocal groups. Transformative changes like this can be hard, so we need to show our elected officials that there is strong support for this project from citizens across the city.
