Each year, the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims honors those who have been killed and injured on roads around the globe — 1.35 million people each year worldwide.

Advocates of alternative transportation cheered as the City of Los Angeles approved a long-awaited bicycle master plan. With more than 1,600 miles of proposed bikeways, the plan envisions a future in which the bicycle is an integral part of urban transportation.

More than 9,500 people were killed in traffic crashes in the first three months of this year, federal transportation officials said Wednesday — a figure that represents the deadliest start to a year on U.S. roads in two decades.

The effect of traffic violence is devastating in L.A., and the events of August 4th were a reminder of how necessary the push for safer streets is and that city officials must stand up and fight to stop these horrific crashes from occurring.

Streets Are For Everyone will observe National Stop on Red Week 2022, which runs Aug. 7-13. Red-light safety cameras are part of a comprehensive effort to improve traffic safety for all motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians who use our roads.

Each year, our Streets, Art, SAFE Film Competition honors high school students helping to combat the #1 killer of children in the United States — traffic collisions.

Last year, the Los Angeles Department of Transportation selected Foothill Boulevard between Sherman Grove and Apperson as a Vision Zero ‘Priority Corridor’, due to the high number of injury and fatality collisions along this corridor in the past, securing additional funding and design improvements for this stretch. The non-profit street-safety organization, Streets Are For Everyone (SAFE), is demanding that the City of Los Angeles and specifically the Department of Recs and Parks return Griffith Park to the community - making it safe for the people who use it the most, not the speeding cars who use it as a cut-through. Please phase out private cars traveling through Griffith Park (excluding Park Rangers and public shuttles).
