Supporting You During the LA Fires: a Message from our Executive Director
Resources and support 📋 | Help us with the clean up! 🧹
I hope this finds you and your loved ones safe during this incredibly challenging time.
As wildfires continue to devastate parts of Los Angeles, I wanted to take a moment to reach out and share a message of solidarity.
First and foremost, all SAFE staff are safe and accounted for. However, some of our friends, family members, staff, and partners have lost their homes or have been displaced by these fires.
We are doing everything we can to assist them and others in our community who have been affected.
If you or someone you know needs help—whether it’s accessing resources or finding community support—please reach out.
Our SAFE Support Case Worker, Manuela Rocha, is available in English or Spanish to assist both victims of traffic violence and, during this time, anyone affected by the fires. We’re here to provide resources and tools to support you and your family.

Mutual Aid LA has put together a list of resources for evacuees as well as people who want to help out.
Hotels that are available and who have discounted rates.
211 partnership with AirBNB. Fill in this form for emergency support.
YMCA locations have free child care and other resources.
Lyft is offering free rides to and from shelters and critical resources.
Metro is free through Sunday, January 12th. Though there are service interruptions, they are keeping most lines running as possible.
Keeping Informed
Can You Help Us Assist With the Clean-Up?
We will be holding our Clean Ride Crew on its usual date, the 3rd Saturday of the month (January 18). This time, we will focus on aiding the cleanup efforts following the wind storms and fires.
If you’d like to join us and lend a hand, please email me at DamianKevitt@StreetsAreForEveryone.org. I’ll add you to the list and send you an alert once the locations are finalized.
While our city faces this crisis, our mission to make roads safer remains just as vital. SAFE’s work to create safer streets for everyone is not on pause. Traffic safety, equity, and public health are interconnected, and we’re as committed as ever to making meaningful change.
Please take care of yourselves and your neighbors during this time.
Let’s stand together, support one another, and rebuild stronger.
With Gratitude,
Damian Kevitt
