SAFE Helps the Bahati Foundation Give Away 170 Bicycles to Underserved Kids

Last Saturday, the Bahati Foundation held its 6th Annual "Motion Equals Healthy" Bike Giveaway. Streets Are For Everyone was proud to partner with the Bahati Foundation in helping to produce this event – helping to give 170 bicycles and helmets to underserved kids from around Los Angeles County.

Kids were also taught basic cycling skills as part of a bicycle rodeo led by the Topanga Howlers. Every kid who finished received a beautiful medal from SAFE.

Led by professional cyclist Rahsaan Bahati, the Bahati Foundation is dedicated to fostering health, wellness, and inclusivity through cycling. The "Motion Equals Healthy" Bike Giveaway marks a significant milestone in this journey, aiming to encourage physical activity, enhance health consciousness, and empower individuals through the gift of bicycles.

The success of the 6th Annual Bike Giveaway resonates profoundly due to its multifaceted impact on the health and well-being of the recipients. The event distributes bicycles to kids who might not otherwise have access to the joys of cycling for exercise or daily commuting. These bikes serve as a catalyst for a more active lifestyle, promoting cardiovascular health, improved fitness, and a greater sense of well-being.

The brand-new bicycles were made possible thanks to Giant and Liv Bicycles.

At the event, a representative of the City of Carson surprised the Executive Director of Streets Are For Everyone, Damian Kevitt, with a beautiful certificate to recognize the work SAFE has done to help make roads safer for all road users.

SAFE looks forward to continuing to work with the Bahati Foundation as part of future Motion Equals Health Bike Giveaway events and the 11th Annual Finish The Ride Griffith Park.
