Safety and Mobility Improvements on Hollywood Boulevard are Planned!

Good news! The Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) is continuing its safety and mobility improvements on Hollywood Blvd. with additional work planned on the section of road between Gower St. and Fountain Ave. LADOT will continue its engagement with the community regarding safety for those who walk, bike, and use public transit.

If you would like to be part of the conversation and hear more about the improvements planned, there will be a virtual town hall on Thursday, February 1st, at 6:00 PM, where city staff will share project updates, answer questions, and gather feedback. If you’d like more information, see the event flier and click here to RSVP. Your feedback will help city officials work to:

• Help slow down excessive speeding

• Reduce pedestrian exposure to traffic

• Allow for safer turns

• Create dedicated space for people on bikes and scooters

The project will employ quick-build materials, such as paint and plastic bollards, to help calm excessive speeds, create safer crossings, and improve access to nearby destinations. LADOT installed basic safety improvements on Hollywood Blvd. between Fuller Ave. and Lyman Pl., including new minor street crosswalks, continental crosswalk upgrades, and speed feedback signs in May 2019. Since then, several new pedestrian flashing beacons and pedestrian refuge islands have also been installed. These changes occurred after The Vision Zero program identified 53 severe and fatal collisions on Hollywood Blvd.

Let’s be part of the solution to make Hollywood Blvd safer!

Date: Thursday, February 1

Time: 6 pm
