To implement the Vision Zero Initiative to eliminate traffic deaths.
“Dear Government Official:Cities across the country are making a commitment to Vision Zero, the global movement to eliminate all traffic deaths.
When announcing his support for the initiative, Mayor Bill de Blasio of New York City acknowledged that “There has been an epidemic of traffic fatalities, and it can’t go on. And the time to start change is now.”
On the west coast, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcettichallenged government officials to “think big and work hard when it comes to keeping people safe.” He added that “with more people walking and biking than ever before, we must use every available tool to save lives.”
Streets Are For Everyone (SAFE), a leading organization advocating for safer streets for all users,is proud to partner with government entities and support the efforts of individuals who understand that it is the responsibility of government to manage and prevent fatalities and serious injuries on our streets.
But cities cannot achieve these goals on their own. Dangerous streets exist everywhere, regardless of municipal boundaries or government jurisdiction. That’s why I am asking you to support legislation and regulations at the local, state and federal level that promote safe streets and responsible infrastructure.
Please support responsible legislation that protects all road users, because streets are for everyone, and everyone deserves to feel safe.
